An exceptional hotel

We have just spent 2 nights at the legendary Metropole Hanoi hotel on our APT tour. This hotel is full of history and very beautiful. Our room in the newer Opera section was large and extremely comfortable. We were fortunate enough to get an upgrade to the Grand Deluxe room which was exceptional. Thank you. The bathroom was huge and included a bath. The bed, down doonas and pillow choices were wonderful. Breakfast morning buffet was probably one of the best we have experienced with so much on offer. The hotel is in the French quarter but a very easy 11 minute walk to the old quarter and the water puppet theatre area. I didn’t get time to try the heated pool but it looked great. Had a 30 minute spa treatment which I wish had of been 90 minutes… it was a divine foot and leg massage. Finally the staff … they were so attentive and helpful in all areas of the hotel… reception , concierge, restaurants and doorman and in particular Duc who always welcomed me by name and smiling. This hotel is certainly not cheap but worth every bit if you want to treat yourself to something special.

Everything was perfect. Though we have booked a room in the Opera Wing we have been upgraded to a very stylish Heritage Wing Room. Not only the room (with a nostalgic bathtub☺️) , the hotel in general as lobby, bars and restaurants were so elegant and tasteful - we felt completely comfortable during our stay. The staff was so caring and incredibly friendly - and on the other hand we had an easy conversation via whats App, eg when booking a restaurant. Even one day before my birthday I was surprised with a lovely cake - thank you for that! The location is also excellent, it takes 8 minutes to the Hoan Kiem Sea and even 5 minutes to the Opera House. Sofitel Metropole Hanoi is one of the most elegant and stylish hotels of the world - if we come back to Hanoi , we definitely book here again. What made us a little sorry: most of the guests dress inappropriately - which we find disrespectful when comparing how beautiful everything is in this place .

Everything about this Hotel was excellent. We arrived at 7am after an overnight flight from the UK and on check in were immediately offered an upgrade to a Heritage Room due to it being International Womens Day. Although official check in was at 2pm the staff particularly Miu worked very hard to find us a room and we were well settled in a beautiful quiet room overlooking the pool by 10am. Meanwhile we were very well looked after by all the staff but particularly Tyson offering us tea and helpful information about the Hotel. We even had an impromptu visit to the Bomb Shelter. We stayed for 2 nights and enjoyed every aspect of our time at the Hotel. The staff were all extremely helpful and I would thoroughly recommend this Hotel which is a peaceful oasis amid the hustle and bustle of Hanoi. We chose this Hotel because of its fascinating history combined with excellent reviews.
