The state rooms are relatively small, and unfortunately, not all of the amenities in the room are functioning properly. The hotel has an outdated style that could use some modernization. Additionally, the breakfast provided is quite disappointing, offering only a limited selection of food options. On a positive note, the hotel staff are very friendly and accommodating, making the experience more pleasant despite the other shortcomings.

I would really advise against staying at Raffles in Siam Reap. Aside from the issues I will outline below, we were extremely disappointed with how tired the hotel is. It definitely needs refurbishment and has seen better days. See the attached pictures I took. All the sun loungers are stained and grubby. The tiles are not fixed down around the pool properly and my son hurt his foot on them. It just all needs some maintenance. The food offering is also very poor. Dinner at the Amansara just across the road was the same price and infinitely better quality. For anyone staying I would definitely recommend crossing the road and eating at the Aman instead. We arrived at Raffles at the end of a three week trip across Vietnam and Cambodia. We had stayed at Sofitel Metropole Hanoi, Four Seasons Hoi An, Park Hyatt in Saigon and then had a beautiful boat trip along the Mekong. All the previous hotels had been faultless. When we arrived we had a problem with our room. The room was far too small for us and our two children. They had crammed two roll away beds in to the room and there was literally no floor space left. It was just evidently completely impractical - for a 5 night stay. I accept that it was my mistake in booking a colonial suite and assuming that it had a bedroom and a small sitting room. But when we tried to discuss our options with the front of house manager (Mr Mouth) he was so incredibly rude. He pointed his finger at us and said that they had no other rooms available, that this was the room we had booked and so we would have to remain where we were. We asked to see the hotel manager he refused. About 20 minutes later he reappeared having magically found a second room just across the corridor and suggested we could have it for an additional $350 plus taxes per night. This was quite disappointing as by that stage I had been on the hotel’s website to check whether they really had no other rooms available and they seemed to have lots. In fact the room he was offering us at $350 was available online for $288. It was strange, almost as if he might have been on commission by the way he was acting. We agreed to take the second room for the night across the hall but asked that we discuss the price with the hotel manager when he was available given the discrepancy between what we had been offered and the online rate. We also asked if any slightly bigger connecting rooms became available the following day if he would show those. The following day, he showed us two suites both of which had a bedroom and a sitting room where they could set up beds for the kids. He apologised for having been rude the previously evening and said that there would be no charge if we would like to move to either of these. Both were very noisy though as a result of the New Year celebrations going on in the square outside of the hotel. So we asked Mr Mouth whether we could stay with the two rooms either side of the corridor (not ideal) which were quieter for no charge instead. He said yes. So I was extremely disappointed to be presented with a bill for $1500 for a second room upon check out. If he had been clear that the second room was still carrying a $300 charge then of course we would have taken the noisier option of the which we were being offered at no cost. When I tried to make this point at check out they were again very rude. Mr Ploak again refused a conversation with his manger. He took 30 minutes to offer a reduction to $228 per night. And knowing that we could not argue any longer without missing our flight we had no choice but to pay. The front of house managers were disingenuous. They said there were no additional rooms when there were. They said it would cost $350 when their website offered $288. They said we could remain where we were instead given the noise but they then presented us with a $1500 bill and refused to let us discuss this with a member of the management team. The staff at the pool were lovely as were the breakfast and bar staff. But stay at Zannier Phum Baitang or Amansara instead. I hadn’t realised At check out when I tried to raise the issue again, I was met

Extremely good experience, with a few caveats. The rooms in the heritage part are nicely renovated with good taste. The rooms are comfortable, although a bit small and very small bathroom. Our room had a view on the royal palace. Unfortunately these rooms tend to be very noisy. Breakfast perfect. Beautiful big pool with plenty of little attentions, like free water and fruits or sorbets. The Elephant Bar is a historic place and you can get excellent cocktails and mocktails. We liked the original elevator having been back to life.
