Hotel Boutique Bovedas de Santa Clara By Accor 4 stars

Summary: this property has clearly seen better days, but remains a comfortable stay in a great location from which to explore Cartagena I liked: Location - we enjoyed the location inside the historic walled city. The city walls are literally outside the front door of the hotel, making for easy exploration. Everything else we wanted to see was within walking distance, including multiple restaurants. Staff - the best thing about the property is its staff. Everyone we had contact with from the front desk to the security staff were friendly and helpful. The highlights being Juan and Luis who spoke a high standard of English and made an extra effort to look after us. Room for improvement: Room - it appeared there has been a lack of maintenance here as basic, easy to fix things were broken in the room. The door stop was broken, the toilet seat was cracked and broken, the bathroom door lock didn't work, we had no hot water in the shower or bathroom sink during our stay - but oddly the kitchen sink was fine. Noise - our 'deluxe room, view of Caribbean Sea' overlooked Carrera 2 and our sleep was disturbed each night. A garbage truck comes around 2am and also there is a lot of noise audible from other guests in the hallway. We were woken up by other guests coming back to their rooms in the early hours of the morning and screaming in the hallway. Conclusion: I have no plans to return to Cartagena, but if I did I wouldn't stay here. I felt this property was overpriced for the quality of room you receive. I can understand why Accor removed the Sofitel branding from this property, as it's barely Mecure standard in its current state.

Stayed with my wife and 5yo, the staff was wonderful, and took great care with our daughter (even made her a home made coloring book with her name on it). Would definitely recommend. The location along the wall was perfect, and it the view of the denser from the balcony was awesome.

What a lovely hotel. We arrived and were upgraded thanks to my Gold ALL status, and the room was ginormous and chic with a huge soft king size bed. We had a corner balcony over looking the ocean (and the Independence Day parade which was on during our stay-front row seats!) A big shout out to Juan David, Adris and the rest of the staff for making our stay wonderful and providing us with a beautiful honeymoon surprise (we came back from dinner to a room full of rose petals, chocolate covered strawberries and candles!!!) The Sofitel breakfast/dinner is top notch as is the pool. The staff there, such as Maria and Jair, are so lovely and attentive-remembering our names, stopping to make conversation and to help with our every desire. I would not hesitate to book the Bovedas again-in fact we are already planning future anniversaries there. I’m sure the Sofitel rooms are lovely but we were so happy with our room which was a fraction of the price. In response to previous reviews-I did not find it tired or dated at all. In fact it was a wonderfully modern yet coastal hotel.

This was a great choice for us and extended family. Staff were responsive, rooms were clean and beds were comfortable . Since this is a sister hotel to the Sofitel across the street we had access to all the facilities. Both the breakfasts and the pool were fantastic. Access to this lovely pool was much appreciated in the heat and humidity.

Used the hotel for my arrival night in Cartagena. The room was spacious, beautiful and had a great view. However the hygiene could be improved (hence the 4 instead of 5 stars). Staff was cheerful and very friendly. Shared facilities w/ Sofitel were great. Facilities in the room itself also great. Good choice for visiting Cartagena.
