We booked 2 delux king rooms (months in advance) for our 5 day/4night stay in Melb hoping to enjoy being very central. A room for our teen daughters and ourselves. Staff were surprised on check in and had only allocated one room so had to find us a room immediately. The hotel was full. They gave us a handicap room which was fine, nice large room. (Not the ambiance I was looking for but…) Then the shower flooded across the tiles (if that’s possible!) and pooled around the toilet area. Our holiday was beginning with a disaster. The space to hang my longer dresses was size of a cupboard for shirts. TV welcome and card had my name backwards. Disappointed. They changed our room the next day but we lost a lot of time just having to pack and repack. They told us to be out of our room by 10am but couldn’t book us into next room until 2pm, it was messy and communication was bad. Hugely disappointed. Looking at Hilton Group now. Loved the hotel, its facilities, its proximity to where we needed to be. Food was great. But the experience left a bad impression. Our daughter is at Vic Uni and we travel 4-5 times a year to see her. We had hoped Novotel would be our spot.

The stay was good. There was a last minute change and I called up the hotel to change the bedding and they were very accommodating in confirming the change for me. I did put in a request for earlier check in if it was possible. I came around 11.30 and the initial lady that I came to was lovely but she didn’t even ask for a name or check and told me the room was not ready and would keep my bags. The front office manager was very accommodating and lovely throughout check-in and check-out! Would definitely come back!
