Another excellent stay at the Novotel York! Thank you to all the staff who greeted us with a smile and gave us a first class service!! Too many to name but Paula and Dagi were extra special. The rooms are comfortable and the swimming pool is an added bonus! We have stayed lots of times as it’s easy parking and walking into york. The restaurant was fantastic!! We were completely spoilt for choice both for meat/fish eaters and others. My cauliflower steak was incredible! Thank you to Kai and the team. We hope to see you again before too long🙏🙏

DO NOT VISIT THIS HOTEL I recently stayed at Novotel York, and it was one of the worst hotel experiences I’ve ever had. I booked expecting a comfortable and relaxing night’s stay, but instead, I was placed in an adjoining room without being informed, which led to horrendous noise disturbances late at night. I was kept awake for hours, unable to sleep properly, which completely ruined my stay. When I reported the issue to reception, the staff were completely unhelpful and dismissive. Instead of acknowledging the problem or taking responsibility, they tried to shift the blame onto me for not complaining sooner—even though the noise didn’t start until late at night! To make matters worse, when I raised my concerns further, the response I received from management was defensive, misleading, and full of outright false claims about what happened. Not only did they fail to resolve my complaint fairly, but they even went as far as to falsely accuse me of distressing their staff—an absolutely ridiculous and unacceptable claim designed to discredit my complaint. This level of dishonesty and poor customer service is shocking from a supposedly reputable hotel. To top it all off, their idea of compensation for a ruined stay was offering 2000 loyalty points (around 40 euros), which is an insult given the inconvenience, stress, and lack of sleep I endured. I paid £100 for this stay and got nothing but frustration in return. Avoid this hotel if you’re looking for a stress-free, professional experience. I won’t be returning, and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.

Stayed here for two nights while working in the area. The room was a good size, it also had opening windows which I love for fresh air, and a decent air conditioning system. So controlling the temperature was easy and made for a comfortable room. The bed was also comfortable, no complaints about that. Room and bathroom were very clean. There is a mini fridge but it certainly didn’t feel very chilled, I wouldn’t rely on it for storing anything perishable like real milk. Breakfast was good choice, the room is spacious with lots of daylight, never felt busy so am a bit confused about some reviews saying they needed to book a time for breakfast. Never used the pool or parking so can’t comment on those. Some aspects of the hotel are a little tired and worn, the carpets in the room could definitely do with replacing. I never ate in the restaurant, there wasn’t any menu in the room and I couldn’t find one online. So not sure how to encourage guests to eat in the hotel if there’s no menu to browse. The bar area looked nice. Overall, I had a positive stay, slept well and enjoyed breakfast, what more do you need for two nights? I would stay again.

A very nice contemporary hotel. Everything was clean and well presented. The staff were all friendly and helpful. We didn't try the restaurant in the hotel because there are so many nice places to eat in York but it looked nice. The main downside was the £17 per night fee for parking which I felt was quite steep given it wasn't the cheapest hotel in the first place. Would still probably come back though
