Disappointing stay.

Disappointed as due to my husbands poor mobility I requested a room close to the restaurant when booking. Our room couldn’t have been further away, went down one long corridor turned the corner to find an even longer corridor, room was on 3rd long corridor. We could see the health spa and pool tantalisingly close out of our bedroom window but had to retrace our steps all the way back, and then down 3 steps and another long corridor to get in! Needless to say my husband didn’t use it and when I use the pool, half was roped off for children’s swimming lessons. Restaurant was pleasant enough overlooking garden but not open the evening we want to eat there. Food was being serviced in the noisy bar but not for us. Shame!

Ok but a bit tired

This hotel is situated on the outskirts of Chester. There is ample free parking outside but you have to register your car with reception. The reception area is modern and spacious. Our room was situated on the first floor in what seemed like an older part of the hotel. The room was very big but it was dated. It was mostly clean but there was mould around the windows. Beds were comfy. The bathroom was clean but dated. The shower didn’t work that well and when mentioned to staff they just said the hotel needed all new boilers and water equipment and the owners were reluctant to do it due to the cost. Our key cards stopped working one day but that was quickly sorted. The breakfast room was really nice and we got to sit in the area over looking the gardens. There was loads of choice at breakfast time and the majority was really nice, but the cured meats and cheeses were starting to go dry and curl up. We visited the leisure centre a couple of times and found this also quite dated. The changing rooms were ok, but the lockers were a bit rusty. Whilst we were in the pool water was freezing, as was the Jacuzzi. The sauna and steam rooms were ok but I don’t think they were working correctly either. Any staff encountered either in the hotel, breakfast room or leisure centre were lovely and did their best to help. The hotel does need some upgrading and money spent but front what I gather the company just aren’t willing to do it. We had an ok stay here but probably wouldn’t return.

OK At The Right Price

The hotel is on the outskirts of Chester with a large car park. It is a straight road into the centre of the city about 2 miles away. We were advised by the hotel that there is a park and ride bus that leaves every 15 minutes adjacent to the hotel. It cost £2.50 for a return ticket. We found all the staff to be very pleasant. I enjoyed the swimming pool. The room was a good size and fairly clean. The hotel does need updating in some areas.
