The welcome at Sofitel was warm, and my room was comfortable. However, I encountered issues with the air conditioning—there were leaks, and loud noises disrupted my sleep for two nights. Despite raising a complaint, I received no response. The most disappointing part of my stay was an unexpected extension of three nights due to work commitments. When I tried to settle the bill, both my Visa and Amex cards were declined. Running low on cash, I requested assistance from the manager to facilitate an online transfer, but my request was refused due to "trust issues"—a response I did not anticipate from a hotel of this caliber. Thankfully, Mr. ElPidio stepped in and helped resolve the situation, for which I am truly grateful.

The hotel feels like an oasis in a country still challenging for travellers. It is nicely located next to the sea, though a bit far from the center of Malabo. Rooms are spacious. The staff I was in contact with were all professional and pleasant. Slight problems were resolved efficiently. Staff from restaurant (i.e Prisca) and reception (Ni... who checked me in) I found particularly service-minded. Housekeeping also to my satisfaction; Overall a very pleasant experience and I would be happy to go back when in Malabo.
