Beware additional charges and reception queue

Overall, my experience at the Mercure Hotel Cardiff was a mix of highs and lows. The bar area exuded a pleasant ambiance, perfect for unwinding after a long day. However, I was taken aback by the unexpected swimming pool charge of £10 per person per entry, which was not disclosed on the Mercure website. Additionally, the inconvenience of two out of four lifts being out of order was disappointing. On the brighter side, the hotel boasts a convenient location and the reception staff were friendly and helpful, despite the perpetual queues. However, the steep breakfast price of £16 per person might deter some guests (The Little Man Cafe is great - 10 minutes walk).

Very poorly run. The second you arrive there is only 2 people at the front desk and you are stood waiting 40 mins in a line to check in. Considering you’re paying £200+ a night you’d expect your room to be clean. Broken chairs, Stains everywhere and a TV that doesn’t work. I also ordered and pre payed for a ‘birthday package’ as a surprise for my husband and when we arrived to the room it wasn’t there. tried to ring front desk and multiple other departments but it is impossible to get through. Will not book here again.
