A wonderful stay with spectacular city views

Arriving before noon after an early morning flight we were delighted to find our room was ready so we could settle in before exploring the city on a three day break. We loved this hotel, the central location, the minimalist styling, the amazing views from the bedroom and particularly from the 18th floor restaurant all added to a sense of being somewhere special. The room was spacious, extremely comfortable with attention paid to all the details including blackout shutters to ensure a good night’ sleep, a huge bath and separate wet-room shower, the most luxurious robes, plenty of wardrobe space and complimentary snacks, water and juice in the mini-bar. We dined in the restaurant on the Friday night and had the best meal of our trip and one of the best we have had anywhere so far this year. (A minor gripe was that notwithstanding paying well over the minimum charge we were not seated by the window but the views were still spectacular and the experience undiminished). We have read other reviews criticising the breakfast but that did not reflect our experience as the range of options was comprehensive and quality of a high standard. The service on occasions was a tad slow but always friendly and accommodating. Checkout at the end of our long weekend was effortless with no long queues allowing us to head across to the metro and connect to the airport. This was our first trip to Vienna, a city we had long wished to visit. It did not disappoint, with its many cultural delights made all the more appealing in the warm spring sunshine. Undoubtedly, however staying at SO was a real highlight of our holiday and one we will long remember.
